NEW RELEASE : ASUU strike continues

The ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has once more been extended. The choice was made following the National Executive Council meeting on Monday August 29 at the union headquarters at the University of Abuja. The ASUU strike was scheduled to start on February 14th 2022  and last for 4 weeks. To give the government more time to respond to all of its demands, ASUU extended its ongoing strike by an additional two months on March 14 exactly one month after doing so. Today marks day 196 of the strike. The Federal Government inability to carry out earlier agreements both parties signed has led to the union going on strike. The lecturers demands range from earned academic allowances to funding for the revitalization of public universities.
