National Broadcasting Commission revokes license of Silverbird, AIT and others

Due to their failure to renew their broadcast licenses the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has revoked the broadcast licenses of Silverbird TV AIT Raypower FM and Rhythm FM  among others. The NBC Director General  Mallam Balarabe Shehu revealed this today August 19. Additionally Shehu instructed its state offices to coordinate with security organizations so that the operation of these stations would cease within the following 24 hours. In order to prevent complete disconnection he urged the stations to pay their fees within 24 hours. He claims that media companies owe NBC N2.66 billion.
