Super Eagles loses the derby test in Cape Coast.

In order to qualify for the African Championship in Algeria the following year, Nigeria and Ghana played another match on Sunday. By defeating Nigeria 2 0 in the first leg of the derby, Ghana emerged victorious. The Super Eagles had to score three unanswered goals in Nigeria to advance to the second leg thanks to a penalty from Daniel Barnieh and a late goal from Seidu Suraj. Chijioke Akuneto and Ossy Martins were the top scorers in the NPFL last season for the team coached by Yusuf Salisu. Babatunde Bello and Afeez Nosiru were the midfield pairing. Joseph Onoja and Adamu Abubakar were on the flanks, and captain Tope Olusesi Ebube Duru Tosin Adegbite, Sampson Gbadebo, and Adewale Adeyinka were on the four man defense.
