40-year-old man detained in Ogun, Nigeria, for reportedly defiling his stepdaughter

On Monday, October 24, Taofeek Sulaiman, 40, was detained by Ogun State Police Command officers for having improper sexual contact with his 13 year old stepdaughter (name withheld). The victim mother complained to the Owode Yewa divisional headquarters that she had married the suspect after the death of her husband, who also happened to be the victim father, and that this had resulted in the victim imprisonment. She added that her daughter had told her that the suspect, who is now her husband, has been having sex with her since October 14 and had threatened to murder her if she tells anyone. Following the findings, DPO OwodeYewa division, CSP Muhammed S Baba, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene where the randy stepfather was promptly arrested. On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime but blamed it all on the devil handiwork. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the victim was taken to Idiroko General Hospital by the Police for medical attention. He added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and possible prosecution.
