The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has identified 23 officials who carried out fake voter registrations.
23 individuals have been named by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as having registered voters fraudulently. Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, announced during the third quarterly meeting with political parties on October 26 that 2,780,756 (22.6%) of the registrants were found to be ineligible and invalidated after a thorough data clean up utilizing the automated biometric identification system (ABIS). Double/multiple registrants, minors, and blatant false registrations that did not adhere to the commission business regulations are among those whose registrations were declared invalid. The INEC employees who created the false registrations, according to Yakubu, would face repercussions. For the CVR exercise, the commission deployed thousands of devoted employees, and the vast majority of them carried out their responsibilities with diligence, according to Yakubu. As a result, the commission has so far identified 23 registration officers involved in this unethical conduct and disciplinary action has commenced. We shall continue to protect the integrity of our voter registers. It is pivotal to credible elections. It is also a national asset and easily the largest database of citizens in Africa and one of the largest in the world.
