Nigerian average airfares increase by 96.87% in a single year.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Transport Fare Watch study showed that the average cost of air travel increased by 96.87 percent in a single year. Average Nigerian airline ticket costs are rising. The amount shown is the typical fare paid by travelers who use air travel for specific routes and only make one trip. The air fair climbed by 96.87% from N36,922.97 in September 2021 when compared on a year over year basis. The value climbed from N65,041.89 in August 2022 to N72,690.54 in September 2022, representing an 11.76% rise, when compared on a month to month basis. The analysis also examined transportation costs for people who preferred to use buses to work within the same time frame as the study. the typical fare paid by commuters for bus journeys within the city per drop was compared on a month on month period, it was noted to increase from N602.48 in August 2022 to N615.69 in September 2022 indicating a 2.19% increase.
