22-year-old woman sentenced to prison in Rivers for human trafficking

Blessing Iniedem, 22, was found guilty of human trafficking and given a two-year prison sentence by a federal high court in Portharcourt, Rivers State. Iniedem was found guilty of attempting to traffic a 16-year-old girl for prostitution, according to a statement released by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. In accordance with section 29 of the Trafficking in Persons Prohibition Enforcement and Administration Act 2015, the act of attempting to keep a 16-year-old victim while knowing that the victim will be coerced into prostitution is punishable under section 15(b) of the Act.
