NEMA and the military commence a SAR operation to rescue trapped flood victims in Anambra

The Disaster Response Unit (DRU) of the Military and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has started an aerial view operation to identify those who have been displaced or trapped by the increasing water. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was in Awka on Monday when Mr. Thickman Tanimu, the Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, South East, stated that it will help with the airlifting of trapped people in the affected communities. Aerial view or Air Recce has been initiated by the Military DRU to gather imagery intelligence of the affected populations. This will make it easier to identify those who are displaced or stranded and need to be rescued so that airlifting may proceed, the man said. Tanimu claimed that the NEMA Director General, Mustapha Ahmed Habib, and the Presidency expressed their sympathies to the state government and flood victims.
