Man killed by fire in Lagos
On Sunday, October 2, a fire that destroyed a 25 room structure at 48, Jagunmolu Street, Bariga area in Lagos state resulted in the death of a 50 year old man who has not yet been named. According to Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, who confirmed the occurrence, the agency received a distress call at 3:19 a.m., and firemen were sent to the scene immediately. She claimed that at roughly 12:31 a.m., they also received a fire alarm at 19 Apata Street in Shomolu. The Bariga fire involved 10 rooms in a bungalow structure with 25 rooms and 18 stores, whereas the Shomolu event comprised 4 rooms and 3 shops in a bungalow building with 8 rooms and 4 shops. The initial inquiry identified irresponsibility as the primary contributing factor to both incidents, which resulted in the electrical surge.
